Hi! I’m a geographer who maps agricultural trade networks.

My research applies quantitative network analysis to understand how regional agricultural trade systems function and respond to disruption. In particular, I examine how border closures, disease outbreaks, droughts, and other climatic shocks influence agricultural trade across West Africa. Understanding geographic patterns in trade networks and how those patterns influence network structure and resilience is critical for ensuring food security despite environmental or economic shocks.

I am a teaching assistant in the UF Geography Department, where I have drawn on my background in agricultural development to design the course materials for the undergraduate class “Hungry Planet – Geography of Crops.” The course integrates concepts from plant biology with geographic theories and GIS mapping skills, enabling students to explore how the spatial distribution of crops has changed over time and how it may continue to shift in the future.

I hold a Master of Sustainable Development Practice from the University of Florida. My academic background also includes a bachelor’s degree in Ecology from Columbia University. Before beginning my PhD, I worked as a project and research assistant with the USAID-funded Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Livestock Systems, where I supported research on livestock systems and development.

Outside of my research, I enjoy cooking, painting, and jogging. I also dabble in science communication by posting maps on @the.crop.geographer instagram page.
